A fitting finale to one of Ireland’s great links courses. Out of bounds down the right and bunkers to the left of the landing area make the tee shot a nerve-jangling conclusion to the round. Those with designs on reaching the green in two will need to find the fairway first, and with the wind rarely cooperating at Baltray, this is a closing hole that demands everything you have.

Pro Tip

Out of bounds right means the fairway is non negotiable on the closing hole. Resist any temptation to cut the corner and play safely left of centre to give yourself a platform for the second shot. If you are thinking about reaching the green in two, the wind will have the final say. In any case, a controlled layup and a clean third shot is a perfectly respectable way to finish a round at Baltray.
